Welcome to CBCRA's Steward Registration Page
The Canadian Beverage Container Recycling Association’s (CBCRA) Program Plan was approved by the Minister of Conservation on Aug. 31, 2011. This Plan provides the opportunity for all Stewards of single use sealed ready to serve beverage containers to discharge their obligations to meet the 75% recovery target set out in the Packaging and Printed Paper Regulation 195/2008 under the Waste Reduction and Prevention (WRAP) Act.
Who's Responsible?
The Regulation is based on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and makes the "stewards" of single use sealed ready to serve beverage containers responsible to recover 75% of the beverage containers they place onto the market in Manitoba.
What's In?
"Beverage Packaging" includes any package or container, or any part of a package or container that is comprised of glass, metal, paper, or plastic or any combination of any of those materials.
Two categories of packaging are identified:
- Containers of "pre-packaged goods" which includes all packaging that a product is supplied with, and
- "Ancillary packaging" is any packaging that beverage containers are conveyed in, e.g. boxboard cartons, plastic carriers, or other similar materials in which the beverage containers are supplied to the consumer.
Companies who are obligated or think they might be obligated are requested to register their company in order to fulfill their obligations under the regulation or be informed of upcoming consultations, program changes and deadlines for filing Reports.
